Part 7:
As part of series of articles (blogs)
regarding Credit and Credit Score, here we
go:
With Your Knowledge and Authorization:
Anybody who you have authorized (evidence with
your signature is required) can view your credit
reports. You usually make these authorizations
when you are applying for a job, applying for a
loan, applying for a credit card, applying to
rent a property, applying for a student loan,
applying for insurance (home & car), applying
for utilities and cell phones, and similar
situations.
This enquires will have an impact and hit your
credit score. Don’t do it too often.
Without Your Knowledge and Authorization:
When another business with a "permissible
purpose" requests to see a credit report, the
credit bureau sells it to them. This could be
banks or credit card companies that would like
to offer their services or products to you and
want to make sure you meet the minimum
requirements or eligibilities.
This enquires will not have an impact or hit
your credit score..
Yourself:
Of course yourself. You can check your
credit reports and credit scores as many as you
wish without hitting your score. However, there
could be fees involved. Your are entitled to get
1 free credit report from any of the three
credit bureaus once a year.
